SPRING CAMP 2014
14th - 16th March
We have booked Stockland Lovell again for our annual Spring camp!
We've been lucky enough to secure Anne-Marie Taylor and Kerry Smith to teach us this spring - both taught us at camp in the autumn and proved very popular and successful instructors.
Dates for camp are the 14th - 16th March (so hopefully having a slightly later date will help the weather!) We have slightly changed the format this time so that there is a lesson on the afternoon we arrive, plus the usual two on Saturday and two on Sunday. Hopefully this will enable people to make the best use of their time away!
Groups are no more than 4, and will be matched as closely as possible to horse and rider ability and aspirations - we want everyone to have fun (not to terrify you!) - both Anne-Marie and Kerry are excellent and encouraging instructors J There is some interest in having a 'baby' group for 4 year olds this time - if this would interest you too, please let me know.
We will arrive from Friday lunchtime, with a lesson Friday afternoon. Then it's time to settle the horses (and ourselves) into the accommodation, and tuck into some excellent Stockland Lovell catering (probably with the help of some wine!). Saturday am will be a flat session for all. Sat pm, and the two sessions on Sunday are likely to be jumping - hopefully the weather will enable us to get out on the cross country course, but due to the time of year, this is not guaranteed. If we remain arena bound, the three sessions are likely to be a mixture of SJ and simulated cross country. If you would prefer not to jump, that's fine - you just need to let me know on the booking form so that I can structure the groups and the lessons accordingly.
We are trying something new with payment this time too (never let it be said we don't move with the times!) - there are phased prices depending on when you pay:-
If you pay in full before the end of January, the cost for the weekend is £250, at any point after that date it is £275.
You can pay in instalments if you wish, but you need to mark each payment with your name and 'spring camp' as a reference so that we can allocate it to you.
You should be aware that I will be making the decision re whether to run with one or two instructors based on the number of people paid up by the end of January - so if you do want to go, you need to let me know!
Please click here for the booking form, which you should return to Jude on the address indicated. You can pay via cheque (made payable to the VWH Riding Club and sent to Jude) or via online bank transfer. A wait list will be kept if necessary. Places are first come, first served (so don't hang around!)
If you'd like more information, please contact Jude on 07970 976063 or email email@example.com

Just a couple of snap shots from Autumn camp 2013, with something for every-one! Whether you don't jump, are leaving the ground for the first time, riding a youngster or slightly more adventurous. Groups are organised so that every-one achieves :-)VWH Annual Autumn Camp Report 2013
Saturday 28th September - Wednesday 2nd October
With the popularity of camp every growing the proof resulted in 19 members and their horses making their way to Stockland Lovell near Bridgewater for five days of fun with their horses at the end of september.
Due to very last minute change of plan as poor Sophie Dickinson was too ill to be one of our trainers Kerry Smith BHSAI and BS Coach and Sian Brown BHSAI both very kindly stepped into the breach alongside Anne-Marie Taylor BE Trainer and Fellow of the BHS to train us for the duration of our stay and what a fantastic time every-one had.
A huge thank you goes to Jude Matthews for her tireless organisational skills that enabled every-one to achieve their goals and more whilst at camp all your efforts were very much appreciated.
So with dressage lessons, show jumping and the weather being kind enough this year to allow us onto the cross country course it was a fabulous for every-one from those who ventured over a fence for the first time, to those gaining confidence on new horses, some more seasoned characters tuning their skills and some longterm battles solved. In addition with Anne-Marie staying on site we also had the benefit of some unmounted master classes including 'seeing a stride' and 'how to beat the judge'. A new addition was also the opportunity to judge each others test riding and comparing our scores to Anne-Marie who is a International FEI Dressage Judge - and we didn't do too badly!
SPRING CAMP 2013
Stockland Lovell Equestrian Centre, Nr Bridgewater, Somerset.
22-24th February 2013
Training provided by Sophie Dickinson.
Back by popular demand, the spring camp hosted ten riders with 13 horses of all abilities and great fun was had by all despite the chilly wind.
Members who attended were thrilled how four lessons amongst friends and ample wine could set them up so well for the year regardless of standard and ambitions. In many cases far more was achieved than they had ever hoped for!
Camp is all about having fun whilst gaining confidence and experience with your horse wether it be dressage, show jumping, cross country or simply getting over a pole on the floor and Sophie brilliantly instructed every horse and rider combination to their best ability within the four sessions with improvement and smiles to been seen by all.
A huge thank you to Jude Matthews for once again organising a fabulous weekend away for every-one!!
