South Wales and West Regional Championships
Our VWH Team - Penny Hall, Sharon Robbins, Judith Wilson and Vanessa Bennett all had a superb day at Hartpury Equestrian Centre on Saturday 20th August. Having qualified back in July at the Summer Area 9 Show Jumping they were Joined on the team by Penny whilst Fiona Symes's horse Penny is still out of action.
The team finished on 0 putting them in the jump off and they finished 2nd with Individual 6th for Vanessa riding Fred. They all received fabulous Silver medals (it being the Olympics) and had thoroughly enjoyed their day.
With luck this championship will be back again next year and hopefully we can qualify a few more teams. Thank you very much to Jo Thornton - our team volunteer who helped on the day for our team to compete.
BRC Animalife Horse Trials Championship Success
Our Intermediate Eventing Team Jude Matthews, Cassandra Wood and Emma Gedge headed of to the
Championships 4th - 7th August and had a fabulous time!
With a Trot up and Dressage on Day 1, Cross Country including roads and tracks with Steeplechase on Day 2, and then a final trot up and Show Jumping on Day 3.
All horses completed full of running to finish a fantastic Team 8th. With Inidividual 4th for Emma riding Target and 11th for Jude riding Benji.
Huge thank you goes to Fiona Symes who was meant to be filling the fourth place on the team, but a last minute serious injury put Pen in horsey hospital for the weekend and meant she was unable to ride. However in true riding club spirit, Fiona stayed for the weekend and fulfilled our volunteering duty on the Sunday morning - Thank you!
Area 9 Animalife Horse Trials Qualifier
A super two days was had by all and what a brilliant turn out from the club!
Saturday 9th JulyOur 90cm team kicked off the day bright and early and all had a good day with the team finishing 5th. Individual 4th for Jude riding Africa (His first 90cm clear XC), 7th for Fiona riding Penny, 9th for Pip riding Heston (they left the poles up at last!), and a last minute substitution included Lynda riding Splash in his first 90cm (jumping a double clear with just a couple of time faults) to finish a very credible 13th.
The afternoon saw our 80cm team compete and they also finished with the team in 5th Place. Kathy Froom riding Indigo in his first ever event took 5th place individually jumping a double clear, with Penny riding Marley and Judith riding Sanchez also completing with double clears and just a few time faults, and Becky riding Boris, just rolled a pole and were given an unlucky stop at the water but more importantly he went in the water and didn't decide to have a pause on course!
Sunday 10th July
Back for more, our 100cm team were competing on the Sunday! With afternoon times, the dressage was completed before the course walk, sadly they were down to three members due to injury but they did brilliantly to WIN!! and qualify for the National Championships in just three weeks time!THANK YOU
Despite all these teams competing we also had members, family and friends who helped out before and during the event, not just so our teams could compete but to allow the event to run!
A huge thank you goes to every-one who gave up there time to help, our amazing members and committee organised all the entries and times, provided a senior steward and completed all the scoring on the saturday of the event - not a small task. We can not thank you all enough!!
